Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Non-linear Optics and Laser-matter Interaction
EPFL - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne
Lausanne, Switzerland
Mission
Physicist with strong knowledge in optics and more specifically non-linear optics, your mission will be to conduct research on innovative laser-beam shaping principles as a tool to tailor functional properties in selected dielectrics materials and to investigate generic principles for in situ optical monitoring of laser-induced structural changes in matter.
The long-term goals of these investigations will be to support the development of novel types of direct-write integrated devices and to contribute to the design of innovative freeform manufacturing processes.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Define relevant research and experimental plans, sustained with theoretical considerations and knowledge of the literature;
- Conduct experiments and analyze data;
- Report and disseminate the research outcome in journal publications and in conferences;
- Interact and collaborate with other lab members as well as with partner labs and institutions in Switzerland and abroad;
- Occasionally supervise undergraduate students;
- Contribute to the lab life.
Profile
- You recently obtained a PhD in a physics discipline or equivalent and are familiar with non-linear optics and/or strong-field interaction;
- You have hands-on experience with optical setups, specifically, involving lasers;
- Being independent, creative, solution-oriented, open-minded, flexible and a team-player, you are aiming for future research or academic careers as a long-term objective.
